Who are the counsellors?
Tri-Cities Peer counsellors are trained seniors who volunteer to offer free, confidential counselling service to seniors living in Coquitlam, Port Moody and Port Coquitlam. They offer emotional support and guidance to support other seniors. This service is sponsored by the Fraser Health Authority and Dogwood Pavilion.
Contact Information: To access this service, phone 604-945-4480 and leave a short message including your telephone number or e-mail us. You will be contacted to arrange an appointment for a peer counsellor to meet with you at your home or nearest senior centre. You may request a male or female counsellor. The counselling connection will be maintained for as long as it is needed.
What kind of situations do peer counsellors help with?
Grief and loss, Declining health, Family or relationship issues, Isolation or loneliness, Depression or anxiety, Memory challenges, Financial or legal problems, Housing concerns.
A peer counsellor will listen to your concerns and feelings. They will also help to identify appropriate community resources and support services for seniors, that may be of assistance.
